Kimberly Ray, Founder and CEO of the Marine Conservation Network, also known as Ama Bat Yam (Daughter of the Ocean), is a committed conservationist, passionate diver, and advocate for marine preservation. With a background in marine biology, she has championed efforts to promote ocean conservation worldwide. Through the Marine Conservation Network, Kimberly leads initiatives in global hotspots such as California, Florida, the UK, Africa, and Sri Lanka, emphasizing collaboration, research, and sustainable practices. Under her leadership, the Network actively engages youth and senior ambassadors, fostering education, research, and awareness to protect our oceans for future generations. Known for her engaging communication style, Kimberly works tirelessly to inspire collective action for marine conservation and to build a community of environmental stewards.
Charles Ray, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of Marine Conservation Network, has extensive experience in financial management and law enforcement, and is a Peace Officer with NOAA Stranding Unit Office of Law Enforcement. Charles plays a vital role to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and growth. His dedication to the mission of marine conservation, coupled with his financial acumen, contributes to the success and effectiveness of the Marine Conservation Network in safeguarding our oceans for future generations.
Maya Crute, an Environmental Marine Science Expert, specializes in fishery sustainability and reducing marine industry impacts on marine mammals. Ashley Whipple, Director of the Youth Ambassador Program, holds an MPH from George Washington University and a background in marine biology from Virginia Wesleyan University. She's been involved in projects dealing with microplastic exposure in children and supports our mission to cultivate future Ocean Warriors.
Mariana Morais, Youth Ambassador Program Global Coordinator, brings a diverse background in law and policy, community outreach and fisheries. Mariana is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, Mariana is dedicated to inspire and mobilise young leaders worldwide in marine conservation efforts, fostering communication and collaboration.
Adelaide Dahl, President of Blue Ocean Networking Hub and NewsLetter Editor, holds a BS in Biology from Brown University, and is an avid scientific diver, conservationist, and scientific illustrator. Her passions for science communication and outreach support her work as a teacher, student, and biologist.
Harry Chan Tin-Ming, brings invaluable expertise to the Marine Conservation Network. Renowned as a GhostNet Hunter, Harry has demonstrated exceptional dedication to environmental conservation. His remarkable contributions were recognized in 2020 when he was awarded the prestigious HKSAR Honours and Awards Medal of Honour (M.H.) for his outstanding community service and significant efforts in promoting environmental awareness and conservation education. Harry's commitment and achievements make him an influential advocate for the protection of our natural world.
James Borton brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the Marine Conservation Network. As an accomplished independent journalist, he has an exceptional understanding of the intricacies surrounding environmental issues. With his role as a senior fellow at the US-Asia Institute and his past editorial work on the highly regarded publication, "The South China Sea: Challenges and Promises," James has consistently demonstrated his commitment to shedding light on important environmental matters. Jesse Roche is a seasoned professional lobster, salmon and scallop fisherman based in Bristol Bay Maine who spent time on the New England Fisheries Management Council. He previously hosted and produced the radio show "Fishing Today" on commercial radio focusing on education, conservation, and management, and is current on NOAA regulations and marine mammal issues in the north Atlantic as they pertain to populations and conditions. He makes a great addition to MCN with his extensive knowledge and experience.
